Service areas

[Grove Ontario Fence Builders](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/) plans and installs fences and gates across Ontario and the west Inland Empire. Ontario requires a building permit for most fences over 3 feet, while Rancho Cucamonga and Chino Hills let a typical fence reach 6 feet without one. Fire zones, soils and HOA rules shift from one city to the next too, so each plan starts with the city the property sits in.

The permit rule changes at the city line. So does the height you can build without one.

## Nearby cities without their own page

These cities are close to Ontario and share much of its ground and weather, but their own fence and permit rules could not be read at the source, so the requirements below are confirmed per address before a fence is planned. The posts, materials and installation work the same way described on the [wood](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/wood-fence-installation/), [vinyl](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/vinyl-fence-installation/) and [wrought iron](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/wrought-iron-fence-installation/) pages.

### Upland

Upland sits between Ontario and the foothills on the same alluvial fan as south Rancho Cucamonga, mapped largely as Hanford coarse sandy loam on gentle slopes. Its north edge touches the foothill fire zones, with about 5% of the city rated Very High on CAL FIRE's map. Upland's fence height and permit rules are confirmed per address with the city.

### Chino

Chino shares central Ontario's Tujunga loamy sand, the loose, fast-draining soil that makes post footings rely on depth and diameter rather than grip. Its edges toward the Chino Hills and the Prado basin carry small fire-zone areas, about 5% Very High. Chino's own fence rules are confirmed per address.

### Fontana

Fontana lies east of Rancho Cucamonga, closer to the Cajon Pass, where the National Weather Service's Inland Empire warnings often place the strongest Santa Ana gusts. That makes post spacing and footing size the first question on a tall solid fence there; the [Santa Ana wind guide](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/guide/santa-ana-winds-fence/) explains why. About 14% of the city is rated Very High fire hazard, on its north foothill and hill edges. Fontana's permit rules are confirmed per address.

### Claremont

Claremont is in Los Angeles County and in a different National Weather Service forecast zone from Ontario, one that has logged far fewer High Wind Warnings. Its north side borders the foothills, with about 37% of the city rated Very High fire hazard, so the proposed rules on combustible fences near houses matter there; the [wildfire zone fence guide](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/guide/fences-wildfire-zones/) covers them. Claremont's own fence and equestrian-area rules are confirmed per address.

### Jurupa Valley and Mira Loma

Jurupa Valley is in Riverside County, with Ramona sandy loam in the Mira Loma area and hill areas that put about 22% of the city in the Very High fire zone. Where a lot is large, long runs and [wide access gates](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/rv-gate-installation/) change the plan more than material does. Fence rules are confirmed per address with the city.

### Eastvale

Eastvale, also in Riverside County, has its own permit office and sits on Hanford coarse sandy loam near the Santa Ana River. Where a tract has an HOA, the [HOA approval guide](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/guide/hoa-fence-approval/) covers how that review works. Its fence rules are confirmed per address.

### Pomona

Pomona is in Los Angeles County, on urban soils mapped as the Pico-Metz complex, with about 12% of the city rated High fire hazard on CAL FIRE's map. Its fence and permit rules are confirmed per address.

Wherever the property is, the [fence permit and height guide](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/guide/fence-permits-height-rules-ontario-ca/) lays out Ontario's rules beside Rancho Cucamonga's and Chino Hills', and the [fence cost guide](https://groveontariofencebuilders.com/guide/fence-cost-ontario-ca/) covers typical prices for the area.
